FAQs
What does MDF stand for?
MDF stands for 'Medium Density Fibreboard'. Fibreboard is a specially engineered wood-based sheet material created by bonding wood fibres with a strong synthetic resin adhesive.
What type of paint to use on MDF window boards?
Our MDF window boards are pre primed with a white primer paint, meaning it will be ready for a top coat as soon as it arrives with you.
You can use both oil-based paint and water-based paint on MDF. We recommend using high-quality wood paint to get the best results from your paint job.
Ensure that you treat the boards on all sides (especially the edges or sawn ends) with a water-resistant sealer first to prevent any swelling from moisture in the paint.
Are MDF window boards waterproof?
Whilst moisture resistant MDF is available, it is not generally recommended for high-moisture areas. If you wish to improve the water-resistance of your window boards, it is recommended that you use a sealer to protect the wood.
