FAQs
What sheet material is suitable for outdoor use?
For outdoor applications, it's best to choose sheet materials that are designed to withstand the elements. Marine plywood and specialist types of composite materials like phenolic plywood are suitable for outdoor use if prepared and installed in a suitable manner.
What sheets are best for hot weather?
In hot weather conditions, consider materials that are less prone to expansion and warping.
Materials like MDF (Medium-Density Fibreboard) may be more stable than solid wood sheets. However, MDF is less suitable for outdoor use at it is prone to swelling when wet.
Aluminium and certain plastics, such as PVC or polycarbonate sheets, are heat-resistant and suitable for hot climates. While we don’t have these available, some sheet materials such as marine plywood are designed to live outdoors. All plywood will live outside if treated correctly.
