We are proud to share that our Group Managing Director, Neil Sabey, recently made an appearance on BBC Radio 4's "Wake Up to Money." This episode, hosted by Sean Farrington, featured a discussion held at Lawnswood, a housing development in Staffordshire. Neil was joined by a panel, including Ian Burns from Cameron Homes Limited, Rachel Laver, Kate Ellison, Julie White, and Mac Ball, all of whom brought valuable insights from their respective fields.
The conversation primarily centered around the pressing issue of the growing demand for new-build homes across various sectors. As the UK faces an increasing need for quality housing, this discussion provided an examination of the challenges and opportunities in the housing market. The panelists explored the factors driving this demand, including population growth, urbanization, and evolving consumer preferences. They also discussed the importance of sustainable building practices and the role of innovation in meeting future housing needs.
During the discussion, Neil Sabey emphasized our company's commitment to contributing to the industry's future by investing in the next generation of skilled workers. He highlighted our pledge to the Builders Merchants Federation Ltd.’s (BMF) to ensure that at least 5% of our workforce consists of apprentices.
Apprenticeships are a critical component of our strategy to address the skills gap in the construction industry. By providing hands-on experience and mentorship, we aim to equip young professionals with the knowledge and expertise they need to excel. Neil highlighted the importance of this pledge in ensuring the long-term success of our projects and, more broadly, the sustainability of the construction sector.
