Alan Harvey appointed as Sector Chair for Transport and Distribution


We are thrilled to announce that our very own Alan Harvey, Group Transport Director for Harlow Timber Group, has been appointed as the Sector Chair for the Transport and Distribution Forum. This prestigious role is a testament to Alan's expertise, leadership, and dedication within the industry.

With his extensive experience in transport and distribution management, Alan has consistently demonstrated a deep understanding of the challenges and opportunities facing our sector. As Sector Chair, he will play a pivotal role in shaping discussions, driving initiatives, and fostering collaboration within the forum.

Alan began his career in 1985 joining the British Army’s Royal Corps of Transport, which became the Royal Logistics Corps in 1993. Over his 25-year career in the Army he served all over the world as a logistician. Following this, as head of auditing for The Fleet Operator Recognition Scheme (FORS), he was responsible for ensuring that the body’s accredited organisations were audited in line with its standard. He then moved into building materials distribution, joining Travis Perkins Group as the compliance and road risk manager helping them to better measure, manage and reduce road risk. In 2020, he joined Harlow Timber Group in his current role and has been a key member of the BMF Transport Working Group since then.

Alan's passion for innovation and commitment to excellence make him the ideal candidate for this position. Under his guidance, we are confident that the Transport and Distribution Forum will continue to thrive as a hub for industry professionals to exchange ideas, share best practices, and address key issues affecting our sector.
