Timber Sourcing
We take great care in sourcing our chosen products to ensure the traceability and integrity. All our timber is sourced from well-managed forests governed by strict environmental programmes.
Harlow Bros Ltd have been granted certification by BM TRADA, the leading body in timber and accredited by UKAS. This covers the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) Chain of Custody Scheme and the Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification (PEFC) Chain of Custody scheme.
FSC

FSC is an independent, non-profit, non-governmental organisation. It is an association of members from environmental and social groups, the timber trade and the forestry profession, community forestry groups and other organisations from around the world. FSC runs a global forest certification scheme which includes two key aspects: Forest Management and Chain of Custody certification. This ensures that timber produced in certified forests can be traced from the forest to the end user.

PEFC

The PEFC Council (Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification schemes) is also an independent, non-profit, non-governmental organisation, founded in 1999 which promotes sustainably managed forests through independent third party certification. The PEFC provides an assurance mechanism to purchasers of wood and paper products that they are promoting the sustainable management of forests.
PEFC is a global umbrella organisation for the assessment of and mutual recognition of national forest certification schemes developed in a multi-stakeholder process. These national schemes build upon the inter-governmental processes for the promotion of sustainable forest management, a series of on-going mechanisms supported by 149 governments in the world covering 85% of the world's forest area.
